INTRODUCTION
The reason for this book is twofold. They both revolve around my plan to decrease the amount of time I spend on financial work and increase the allotment to photography, fun and family. When I tell people this they often ask, “What type of photography do you do?” I have never been able to answer that in a few words. So, the first reason for this book is to be that answer.
I am also putting a stake in the ground in order to say that prior to this point I was just fooling around. Now I am going to take this endeavor more seriously, therefore, the title of this book is: So Far.
The pictures cover a long period of time during which I have been pushing the button in my spare time. The quality varies. Some images are from prints where the negatives are missing and the only remaining prints have been kicking around in boxes, drawers and cases . . . much the worse for wear. Some images are from 21⁄4 negatives lovingly processed, printed and stored.
I have told you my two goals but there is a third that materialized while I was putting this book together: enjoyment for the viewer.

It has now been almost a year and a half since book one. So Far Was meant to be a review of what I had done and could do. It was almost meant as a public commitment to book two … sort of like when you go on a diet … an activity with which I am well familiar. In the first book I made a number of guesses as to what themes you would see next or see continuing in the next book. Since So Far So Good was a project with planning and foresight, the images don’t ramble and range much. I am not sure wether that’s good or bad but its the nature of the activity.
